60MHz Rail-to-Rail Precision Op Amps Draw Less than 1mA

MILPITAS, CA - September 3, 2003 - Linear Technology Corporation announces the LT6220, LT6221 and LT6222 single, dual and quad rail-to-rail input and output precision op amps. Drawing less than 1mA per channel, these 60MHz op amps increase the operation time of wide bandwidth battery-powered systems without compromising performance. The LT6220/21/22 can operate from supplies as low as 2.3V and up to 12.6V, while the entire supply range is available because of the devices' rail-to-rail inputs and outputs. This increases overall performance by maximizing signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range.

The LT6220/21/22 also offer excellent DC accuracy. With a maximum input offset voltage of 350uV, maximum input bias current of 150nA, CMRR of 82dB and voltage gain of 90dB, these devices have significantly better performance than other op amps with comparable bandwidth. Output current capability is 50mA for driving heavier loads, even with a low supply current of less than 1mA/amplifier. This unique blend of high speed and exceptional DC accuracy at low supply current makes these amplifiers a top choice for multitude of applications.

"The LT6220/21/22 have excellent overall performance, making them extremely versatile and suitable for use in a wide variety of applications," according to applications manager Tim Regan. "The combination of wide bandwidth and single supply (3V/5V) rail-to-rail operation makes them excellent candidates in low voltage, high frequency signal processing systems. The low power consumption (1mA/channel max) and miniature packaging makes them ideal for high density multi-channel applications where power and space are at a premium. Their excellent DC specs, unmatched by competition, allows use in precision instrumentation applications."

Fully specified over the commercial temperature range of 0 °C to 70 °C and industrial temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C, the LT6220 single is offered in the 5-pin SOT23 and 8-pin SOIC packages. The LT6221 dual is available in the 8-pin SOIC and space saving 3mm x 3mm DFN package. The LT6222 quad is available in the 16-pin SSOP, which has the same footprint of an SO-8 package. Pricing starts at $1.20 each for the single, $1.85 each for the dual and $2.95 each for the quad in 1,000-piece quantities.
