200MHz Rail-to-Rail Op Amp Features Adjustable Speed, Power & 3V to 12V Operation

MILPITAS, CA - September 29, 2003 - Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LT6210, a current feedback amplifier with adjustable supply current and bandwidth. The supply current is programmable for a range of 300uA to 6mA corresponding to a bandwidth ranging from 10MHz to 200MHz. A single resistor or current source is all that is needed to set the supply current to the minimum required for a given speed. This unique feature allows designers to select the optimum speed to power ratio based on their individual design requirements.

"The flexibility to trade-off between high speed operation and low power consumption makes the LT6210 ideal for use in multiple sockets," according to applications manager, Tim Regan. "In essence, this highly versatile op amp can replace various amplifiers with different speed to power ratios. By changing one resistor, each LT6210 can be configured to attain a specific bandwidth and slew rate for a given supply current. With this option, customers can stock one device for multiple sockets."

The combination of adjustable low power consumption with high speed, low noise (6.5nV/√Hz) and low distortion (-70dB at 1MHz 2VP-P) makes the LT6210 suitable for use in a wide variety of applications ranging from power conscious portable designs to high speed data communications. The LT6210 can be used as a video line driver pre-amp, buffer or A-to-D driver in networking, mobile communications gear, video signal processing, cellular infrastructure, modems and remote power systems.

The LT6210 operates on supplies from 3V to 12V and the output swings rail-to-rail. It is offered in the 6-lead ThinSOT(TM) package and is specified for operation over the commercial and industrial temperature ranges. Pricing starts at $1.20 each in 1000-piece quantities.
