RAE Systems Wins Radiation Detector Order from South Carolina

South Carolina Purchases GammaRAE II Radiation Detector and MultiRAE Plus Toxic Gas Monitors

SAN JOSE, Calif. - September 11, 2007 - RAE Systems Inc., (AMEX: RAE), a leading global provider of rapidly deployable sensor networks that enable customers to identify safety and security threats in real time, today announced that the state of South Carolina has purchased 300 GammaRAE II hand held radiation detectors and additional wirelessly enabled, MultiRAE Plus, handheld, toxic gas monitors for deployment to first responders.

"The GammaRAE II radiation detectors give state responders a tool to deal with the threat of a "dirty bomb" as well as the illicit trafficking of radioactive materials. This purchase continues South Carolina's forward thinking in terms of unseen threat detection and response devices," said Doug Mayer, RAE Systems' south east regional manager. "The state of South Carolina selected RAE Systems' MultiRAE Plus gas detectors to supplement the earlier purchases of AreaRAE and MultiRAE Plus monitors already in place within the state and local emergency responder community."

The GammaRAE II is the first personal radiation detector (PRD) to provide rapid detection of gamma (£) ray sources even in potentially flammable environments. Certified intrinsically safe and water-submersible for chemical decontamination purposes, the GammaRAE II can be safely used in more environments than any other personal radiation detector. The GammaRAE II has forward compatibility for use with the AreaRAE wireless network already deployed within the state.

The MultiRAE Plus is a compact one-to-five gas monitor that typically combines a photoionization detector (PID) with Oxygen (O2), Lower Explosive Limit (LEL), and a choice of two toxic gas sensors. The case design makes battery and sensor replacement easy by simply using a coin. With ATEX, UL, and CUL approvals, it provides protection in Homeland Security, HazMat, and emergency response, and is wirelessly enabled to interface to the AreaRAE first responder network through the RAELink II to provide real-time data transmissions to a remote incident commander up to two miles away.

Both the MultiRAE Plus and GammaRAE II are available now from all certified RAE Systems distributors. More information on these and other RAE Systems multi-gas and wireless monitors can be found at www.raesystems.com .
