Radware Introduces Layer 4-7 VoIP Support for Enterprises and Carriers

MAHWAH, N.J., July 18-- Radware (NASDAQ:RDWR) the leading provider of Intelligent Application Switching solutions ensuring the availability, performance and security of networked applications across the enterprise is pleased to announce Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) support on its WSD product line -- ensuring uninterrupted delivery of VoIP and data services.

SIP is an international standard for a signaling protocol used for establishing sessions between two or more end users. The user sessions involve multimedia elements such as voice, chat, gaming and video. SIP allows applications and devices created by multiple vendors to interoperate with each other. SIP is used to establish, maintain and terminate multimedia sessions, including telephony, video, and other types of communication.

Radware WSD constantly monitors the health of SIP servers. When a SIP server is detected to be down, due to failure or for maintenance, WSD automatically switches to other available SIP servers. By maintaining persistency of SIP sessions, WSD ensures that all the signaling packets of the same call are sent to the same SIP server -- a critical function for accounting or billing sessions because it ensures the accurate billing of VoIP services. WSD also provides protection against Denial of Service attacks that are often a main impediment to Voice over IP installations.

The Radware WSD product line was deployed at Deltathree, a leading provider of Internet telephony solutions to consumers, resellers and service providers to maintain high availability and optimized operation for their VoIP customers worldwide. The current SIP based WSD implementation at deltathree builds on a long standing relationship, with Radware solutions supporting deltathree VoIP products and services including their Broadband Phone, PC Phone, Virtual Calling Cards and Outsourced Platform Solutions. The deltathree Outsourced Platform Solutions offers custom-tailored VoIP telephony to a wide range of service providers covering the telecom, cable and DSL markets, among others.

"WSD's session persistency provides us with a highly available SIP load balancing mechanism, for the entire session," said Effi Baruch, Vice President of Network Operations and Engineering at deltathree. "SIP support on Radware WSD delivers the optimized operation of our multiple SIP servers -- keeping our customers satisfied with a highly available service, while we benefit from simplified SIP network configurations and maintenance."

"WSD allows enterprises to fully enjoy the benefits of VoIP without compromising on the reliability of Voice services due to failure or bottlenecks," said Amir Peles, CTO at Radware. "WSD can manage various SIP services over a single public IP address, differentiating traffic by the required SIP service, or any other SIP parameter. This saves public IP addresses, and provides transparent scalability by adding more services to an existing SIP service IP address."
