Waterproof Radiometer Detector Permits Underwater Light Measurements



A waterproof detector and cable assembly for their portable radiometer that is designed for performing a wide range of underwater UV light studies is available from International Light, Inc. of Newburyport, Massachusetts.

IL Underwater Radiometer Detector and filter combinations are available for performing NIST traceable measurements from 200 to 1100 nm and low light levels down to 0.5 picowatts/cm² underwater, using the firm's IL1400BL Research Radiometer. Pressure tested to 60 psi, detector and filter combinations for performing remote underwater UVA/B/C par and other measurements are offered and the radiometer permits long-term integration.

Featuring quartz diffusers packaged in anodized aluminum housings and O-ring seals between filters, IL Underwater Radiometer Detector and filter combinations are connected to water-blocked polypropylene reinforced cables up to 600 ft. long. The portable IL1400BL provides direct readings in any optical units and operates on 4AA batteries or AC. Filters are available for biological, environmental, meteorological, and water purification studies.
