NATEL Offers Krypton-85 Radioisotope Leak Testing for Environmental Screening

CHATSWORTH, Calif. -- NATEL, a leading microelectronics solutions company, now offers reliable Krypton-85 radioisotope leak testing, an advanced technology used to detect the unforeseen defects in sealed Hybrids and MCMs.

"At NATEL, we constantly offer unique solutions to ensure reliable parts are handed to our customers," explains President/CEO Sudesh Arora. "Krypton-85 radioisotope leak testing is one of these solutions. It is a specialized technology with broad demand among our Military and Aerospace customers, and complements our other leak detection screening capabilities."

NATEL offers Krypton-85 screening with the industry-leading Radiflo Mark VI Pressurization Unit. It meets the latest military standard 750 1071.10 and 883 1014.14.  The test chamber, with dimensions of 6 inches by 20 inches, can apply pressures of up to 110 psia, for testing hermetically sealed packages.

NATEL's Krypton-85 radioisotope testing capability is currently bringing solutions to our customers by eliminating risks and reducing potential latent failures. A previous outside service provider to NATEL on a missile program had difficulties, and NATEL stepped in to add in-house radiation leak testing capabilities. The manufactured parts passed evaluation and on-schedule shipments resumed.

"Our production team for Krypton-85 radioisotope testing is trained to the MIL STD requirements and the safety requirements of the State of California," adds Jay Klug, NATEL's Vice President overseeing the program.

Other NATEL environmental screening capabilities include burn-in, liquid burn-in, temperature cycle, gross and fine leak, mechanical shock, and constant acceleration testing.
