EMX Launches Radioactive Detection Unit



Melbourne Florida - EMX International is pleased to announce the launch of its latest product offering, the Point of Entry Radioactive Detection Unit (RDU). Designed to be installed on turnstiles, security gates or custom configured based on the application; the RDU will detect all types of radioactive material coming through a point of entry zone. Upon detection, the RDU control unit can be configured to signal alarms, alert a central monitoring location and lock gate access.



Conventional explosives coupled with easily obtained radioactive materials (dirty bombs) are one of the greatest terroristic threats we face. These devices would typically be hand-carried into a public venue (e.g. a football stadium) with the sole purpose of causing mass casualties and death. RDU sensors situated at checkpoints within the venue would alert security staff to the radiological threat prior to detonation of the device.



Hospitals are particularly vulnerable as they are a source for radioactive materials that may be used in dirty bombs. RDU sensors could be positioned within hospitals to prevent the theft of medical grade radioactive materials.
