Space-Ray Expands Line of Low-Intensity Radiant Tube Heaters

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - Space-Ray has expanded its line of unitized, low-intensity, gas-fired radiant U-tube heaters to 19 different sizes, ranging in capacity from 40,000 to 250,000 BTU/hr.

Available both natural and propane gas, the expanded line of Space-Ray LTU low-intensity U-tube heaters total heater length varies from 17 ft to 27.5 ft to provide optimum flexibility in meeting exact industrial or commercial building heating requirements. Incorporating unique features not available on most competitive units, the expanded line gives Space-Ray among the broadest and most complete line of tube heaters in the industry.

"We now offer tube heaters ranging from 40,000 BTU/hr. to 250,000 BTU/hr. in capacity, giving us the most complete product line in over 40 years of manufacturing in the industrial heating market, "Space-Ray noted. "These models are especially suited for lower mounting heights of 10 to 20 feet and may be mounted horizontally or up to an angle of 45 degrees. Higher capacity models also have longer emitter tube lengths of from 50 to 80 ft."

The Space-Ray LTU tube heaters feature a unique self-contained draft inducer that pulls products of combustion through the combustion chamber for increased radiant efficiency, greater safety and more uniform tube temperature. The U-tube configuration of the heaters also offers a larger radiation surface for more uniform heat distribution at the floor level.

Other features include a factory pre-assembled tube and reflector body with quick six-bolt aluminized steel burner box assembly for easier and low cost on-site installation, unique monitoring lights for on-line diagnosis and simple, easy maintenance, and a larger diameter calorized steel radiant emitter tube for added heating capacity.

LTU Unit Features Detailed

C.G.A. approved for direct vented or indirect venting operation, the draft inducer can be rotated up to 90 degrees by simply moving the assembly, adding to installation flexibility. A permanently lubricated, totally enclosed, fan-cooled and heavy-duty ball bearing draft inducer motor adds quality and life. Maximum C.G.A. certified 75-ft. horizontal sidewall venting capability instead of the normal 15-ft. in most competitive units, also enhances design flexibility.

State-of-the-art step opening combination gas valve also provides for quieter ignition. Safety is enhanced by the closed combustion chamber design and direct spark ignition with 100% shut off control.

In contaminated atmospheres or high humidity areas, optional outside air for combustion can be supplied with a standard 6-in. round duct. The LTU series is also C.G.A. certified for up to a 50-ft. outside fresh air inlet duct.

The rugged one-piece cast-iron burner comes with a 10-year limited warranty. A larger diameter and especially-designed calorized steel emitter tube provides long life and high radiant efficiency. It comes with a five-year limited warranty.

Reflector ends are enclosed for maximum radiant heat output and minimum convection loss. Factory assembled on the tube body, reflectors come with easy-to-use mounting brackets for horizontal or angle mount up to 45 degrees for maximum employee comfort and heating efficiency.

Like the other Space-Ray radiant tube heaters, the new units offer fuel economy and radiant efficiencies unsurpassed by competitive systems. Annual fuel savings of as much as 50 percent compared to forced-air heating, have been achieved by Space-Ray tube heaters. Some Space-Ray customers report fuel savings as high as 70 percent with a payback in less than one year.

Unique, unitized, pre-assembled design allows lower installation costs, simpler re-arrangement within the facility and less maintenance. By not being dependent on other heaters in the system, Space-Ray's radiant heaters can also be thermostatically controlled, individually or in groups, for greater operating control of heating requirements.

Unlike forced-air heating which works from the top down, radiant gas heat works from the bottom up, warming people, floors, and machines first for optimum comfort.

The first U.S. manufacturer to design unitized tube heaters, Space-Ray has over 41 years of field experience and exposure to industrial heating and commercial heating problems, with some heaters still providing trouble-free maintenance after 36 years of service.

Besides radiant tube heaters, Space-Ray Division also offers a complete line of ceramic heaters, and radiant floor heaters. An exclusive computer heat loss analysis is also offered free of charge to qualified plant managers, contractors, and building owners.

Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Gas-Fired Products also has a wholly-owned subsidiary in Ipswich, England.
