Radial Diaphragm Valves manage sterile flow streams.

Press Release Summary:

Optimized for drainability and system compatibility, DR series can be manufactured in range of configurations to include multiple valves and ports as well as point of use valves. Single body valve design with boreline seal minimizes entrapment areas, and design affords precise open/close control. Available in 5 sizes from ½-2 in., valves are made from 316L stainless steel with modified PTFE wetted single-piece diaphragms and handle pressures to 150 psig and operating temperatures to 280°F.

Original Press Release:

Increase System Efficiency with Swagelok® DR Series Radial Diaphragm Valves

SOLON, Ohio (March 17, 2009) - Offering a cleaner, more compact way to manage sterile flow streams, Swagelok® DR series radial diaphragm valves feature enhanced drainability and system compatibility. The single body valve design with boreline seal minimizes entrapment areas and has been tested and validated by independent third party sources for higher cleanability versus a standard weir-style valve.

The DR series diaphragm valves provide a solution for a variety of applications, including media preparation, fermentation, harvest, separation, refining, purification, and clean-in-place (CIP) and steam-in-place (SIP) systems. The valves can be manufactured in a wide range of configurations to include multiple valves and ports, and point of use valves.

"With precise open and close control, the valves are well suited for point of use control of critical process, such as fill and blend," said Mike Bridge, market manager, Swagelok. "The valve construction is also designed to perform under higher steam cycles, thermal cycles and working pressures than standard weir-style valves. "

The diaphragm design also allows users to further align themselves with BPE standards, which recommend diaphragm valves. A single DR valve can replace complex weir-style valve assembles, resulting in a reduced system footprint.

Swagelok DR series radial diaphragm valves are manufactured from 316L stainless steel with modified PTFE wetted single-piece diaphragms, and available with sanitary clamp or butt weld end connections. The valves are designed for system pressures up to 150 psig (10.3 bar) and operating temperatures of up to 280°F (137°C). Fives sizes from ½ to 2 in. are available, with a choice of pneumatic or manual actuators in plastic or aluminum.
