ATEN Technology Bolsters Hideaway Product Line with New 16-Port Rackmount LCD KVMP Switch

New KL3116 Offers Multi-Platform Support, USB Peripheral Sharing and Extra Console Port for Upgrading to Remote/IP Access

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 30 -- ATEN Technology, Inc., an innovator of high-quality KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) and remote connectivity solutions to manage servers and other network devices, today announced a new rackmount LCD KVMP (Keyboard, Video, Mouse, Peripheral) switch that features an extra local console port, USB peripheral sharing technology, and an external mouse port. The new KL3116, part of the ALTUSEN line of enterprise-class KVM solutions from ATEN, is a 16-port switch that can monitor up to 16 computers in a 1U-high configuration. The unit also includes dual platform compatibility with support for PS/2 and USB.

Within an enterprise-class data center, the KL3116 offers the capability to control up to 512 mixed-platform computers when an additional 31 units are daisy chained to each other. The KL3116 is ideal for medium to large-size server rooms and data centers, as well as military, commercial, education, medical and government installations that require multi-platform support in environments where space is a premium. With the KVMP functionality of the KL3116, users in a server room environment can optimize the USB peripheral port to share files between attached computers or install files on a specific computer via a thumb drive or other storage devices.

The KL3116 offers a range of convenient features for data center administrators. Beyond saving considerable rack space, the unit's extra console port can serve as a bridge to remote and IP access when connected to a KVM extender (such as ATEN's CE250) or IP control device (CN5000). Plus, should the LCD monitor fail, the extra port can be used to connect a standalone monitor to regain control of the KVMP switch -- this feature offers added insurance to prevent downtime in a 24/7 IT environment.

Similar to ATEN's KL1116 LCD KVM switch, the KL3116 also features a Hideaway design that allows the console to slide back while the LCD panel remains in plain sight -- even with the server rack door closed -- to monitor and troubleshoot servers. For the data center administrator who prefers not to use the integrated touchpad, the KL3116 sports an external PS/2 port to connect a mouse.

Other Highlights of the KL3116
o Support for Windows, Sun, Linux, Unix, Netware, DOS and AIX host
systems
o USB 1.1 hub port support with flash disk sharing for local station
