A high-precision, compact alpha gear reducer or gearmotor with integrated ultra-high accuracy pinion and rack provides an economical weight and space-saving alternative to precision ground ball screws and linear motors, offering better performance for less money, especially in travel lengths over 1 meter. Further cost savings are realized by the elimination of the moving tracks and cooling apparatus required by linear motors. A bonus is the elimination of metal chip contamination, always a problem with linear motors.
