QUINTUS Technologies® High Pressure Flexform Press Supports MINTH Group Growth Strategy

Chinese automotive supplier applies flexible forming technology to rapid prototyping

VÄSTERÅS, SWEDEN (PRWEB) OCTOBER 03, 2018 - A state-of-the-art high pressure Flexform press from Quintus Technologies will support the growth strategy in place at MINTH Group, China’s leading supplier of exterior auto parts. The press is destined for MINTH’s Anji factory in Zhejiang province, which focuses on prototype development for a product line that includes trims, decorative parts, body structural parts, and seat frame systems.

Reflecting MINTH’s commitment to apply advanced manufacturing techniques to boost the competitive strength of its products, the Quintus® high pressure press will introduce a number of production efficiencies. The hydroform process requires only one rigid tool half, generating significant tool cost savings and eliminating several forming operations, intermediate heat treatments, and operator dependencies.

“All together, MINTH’s customers covered almost 80 percent of the global passenger vehicle OEMs,” says Mr. Shengming Yu, MINTH Prototyping Manager. “We are dedicated to constantly improving production efficiency by fully utilizing our comprehensive advantages in cost and technology in order to keep up with the fast-moving automotive industry. Our investment in the Quintus press supports this strategy by enhancing our prototype development capabilities.”

The new Flexform press operates at a pressure of 800 bar (11,600 psi) and features a forming area of 700 mm x 1800 mm (27.6 x 73 inches).

“The added value of the high pressure process allows sheet metal part suppliers to meet the quality, volume, and cost demands of major automakers across the globe,” observes Jan Söderström, CEO of Quintus Technologies. “This aligns with the growing trend to move the supply chain to a more flexible level of forming die design, combined with modern high pressure forming technologies.”

Along with the Flexform purchase, MINTH and Quintus Technologies have also signed a five-year Quintus Care agreement, a comprehensive program that assures the auto parts manufacturer of safe, trouble-free press operation and optimized press functionality at a fixed annual cost. Quintus Care service includes rapid remote diagnostics, guaranteed availability of spare and ware parts, and valuable support in tool design and forming processes, allowing MINTH to focus on its core business and stay one step ahead in its application development.

Adds Mr. Yu, “We chose Quintus as our partner not only because they supply the most advanced high pressure equipment available, but also for their ability to offer a long-term technology transfer program and willingness to enter into a close business relationship.”
