QUALCOMM and Huawei to Showcase World's First Demonstration of MBMS Mobile TV Technology at 3GSM World Congress

SAN DIEGO, Feb. 8 /- QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM), together with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., today announced that the world's first demonstration of Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) mobile TV technology will be at 3GSM World Congress 2007 in Barcelona, Spain. The collaborative demonstration follows the completion of successful interoperability testing, marking a milestone in commercialization of the technology that delivers TV to mobile handsets over existing UMTS networks. Both QUALCOMM's booth at 8B53 and Huawei's booth at 8A115 will include demonstrations of MBMS technology.

"MBMS service will allow carriers to upgrade their pre-existing UMTS/HSPA networks with 3G mobile TV services to further differentiate their wireless offerings and gain additional revenue opportunities," said Yu Chengdong, president of Huawei's Wireless Network Product Line. "We expect MBMS service will be widely adopted by operators this year, with more equipment and handsets becoming available over the next several months."

"This significant milestone in MBMS technology will change the way customers use their handset devices," stated Luis Pineda, senior vice president of marketing and management, QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies. "We look forward to working with leading technology partners like Huawei Technologies to drive the deployment of this new technology as we continue to bring new and innovative wireless capabilities to users around the world."

The demonstrations of MBMS at 3GSM 2007 will feature a handset based on QUALCOMM's Mobile Station Modem(TM) (MSM(TM)) MSM7200(TM) chipset receiving TV programs at 256 Kbps from Huawei's UMTS/HSPA network. The MSM7200 chipset, which is expected to be commercially available in handsets and Smartphones starting the second quarter of 2007, supports 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and up to 5.76 Mbps HSUPA.
