Quake Global and Stanley Healthcare Enter Into Strategic Partnership for Real-Time Location Systems

SAN DIEGO – Quake Global and Stanley Healthcare today announced a partnership under which both parties will co-develop and deploy hybrid Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS) for medical facilities incorporating passive and active Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies. Stanley Healthcare will incorporate Quake Global’s industry-leading passive RFID solutions to work with its AeroScout MobileView application.

Quake Global’s passive RFID system provides a low-cost RTLS tool to track location and movement of nearly any asset, including people, specimens, pharmaceuticals and medical devices. The Quake Global RTLS solution provides business-specific analytics to any business flow, and incorporates near real-time mapping for graphical history of anything passing through any area under limitless conditions. Meanwhile, Stanley Healthcare’s Wi-Fi active RFID sensors provide real-time wide-area tracking and monitoring of high value assets.

This partnership will position both companies to compete more effectively in the rapidly growing healthcare RTLS marketplace, which is projected to exceed $6.7 billion by 2017.

“In medicine, asset criticality is measured not just in cost-effectiveness, but in impact to quality of care. Passive RFID technology enables healthcare providers to deploy cost-effective solutions to understand the location of critical assets, including personnel and patients, and analyze business flows in ways never before achievable. Integration into Stanley’s active RFID MobileView application empowers healthcare providers to track assets, from items such as bed linens to know if they’ve been sanitized, to EKG machines to know if they’ve been calibrated—and everything in between,” said Kevin Harris, Director of Product Management for Quake Global. “Active RFID is too big and expensive for many assets, while passive RFID is more sensitive to antenna range. Combine the two into a cohesive RTLS network and you solve many issues associated with a modern healthcare institution.”
