Quadrature Output Option connects to motion-based systems.

Press Release Summary:

Absolute Quadrature output option is available for Micropulse(R) BTL-Z rod-style linear displacement transducers. It interfaces directly to standard encoder inputs (90 deg out-of-phase, A and B), and provides absolute position information upon request. It operates in synchronous or free-running modes. Output carries selectable position resolution (1, 2, 5, 10 micron or 0.001, 0.0001 in.) and selectable pulse frequencies (10, 208, 416, and 833 kHz).

New Quadrature Electrical Output Option Expands Micropulse(R) Interface Options for Motion-Based Systems

Micropulse Absolute Quadrature output option interfaces directly to standard encoder inputs

FLORENCE, KY (April 25, 2002) - The new Absolute Quadrature output option available on Micropulse® BTL-Z rod-style linear displacement transducers gives designers more interface options for connecting to motion-based systems.

The Absolute Quadrature output interfaces directly to standard encoder inputs (90 deg out-of-phase, A&B). But, unlike ordinary incremental encoders, the Micropulse Absolute Quadrature has the added capability to provide absolute position information upon request, eliminating the need to re-home after power loss. To ensure compatibility with virtually any control system, the Micropulse Absolute Quadrature linear displacement transducer can be operated in either synchronous or free-running modes. Selectable position resolution (1, 2, 5, 10 micrometer or 0.001", 0.0001") and selectable pulse frequencies (10, 208, 416, 833 kHz) make the Micropulse Absolute Quadrature a high-performance, super-versatile linear position feedback option.

The Balluff BTL-Z rod style is one of the most versatile products in the Micropulse family of linear displacement transducers. The BTL-Z rod style offers a variety of output options including Analog, Digital Synchronous Serial (SSI), as well as a variety of fieldbus-compatible interfaces. Field-replaceable electronics heads (Analog and Digital versions), and 100% field-scalable output signal (Analog versions) add to the versatility of the BTL-Z rod style transducer and make it ideal for a wide variety of automation and process technology areas, even under extreme ambient conditions.

Balluff Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Balluff GmbH & Co., Neuhausen, Germany, is a leading manufacturer of a wide variety of inductive, optical, capacitive and magnetic sensors as well as linear position transducers and ID systems. Balluff products are used to control, regulate, automate, position and monitor manufacturing and packaging sequences for a number of industries, including metalworking, automotive, plastics, aerospace, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, electrical and electronics.
