QuadFoam NeXGen the First Spray Foam Insulation System to Pass NFPA285 with Next Generation HFO Blowing Agent Technology

System Provides Better Design Alternatives for Environmentally Conscious Architects,Specifiers and Building Owners

ST. LOUIS – Accella Polyurethane Systems, an industry leading manufacturer of spray foam insulation and coatings, today announced its QuadFoam® NeXGen® medium-density closed-cell spray foam has recently passed the NFPA 285 full-scale fire test using the newest liquid blowing agent. QuadFoam NexGen comes from Accella's recent acquisition of Quadrant Spray Foam. This new hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) blowing agent is the most environmentally friendly blowing agent produced, with a zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and a global warming potential (GWP) of 1, which is more than two orders of magnitude (99.9%) lower than current HFCs used in this industry.

"With NeXGen, Accella expands its leadership role in the Spray Foam industry by being the first company to pass the NFPA 285 test with the latest HFO blowing agent technology," says Robert Jamieson, Vice President of Accella Polyurethane Spray Foam Business unit. "This puts us years ahead of our competition in meeting the EPA's mandated blowing agent changes."

National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 285 provides a standardized fire test procedure for evaluating the suitability of exterior, non-load bearing wall assemblies used as components of curtain wall assemblies that are constructed using combustible materials or components for installation on buildings where the exterior walls are required to be non-combustible.

Architects and building owners who are environmentally conscious will benefit greatly from this new technology. Given the new blowing agent and its extremely low impact on the environment, it offers many options for the design community to build larger, more responsible, and sustainable buildings. Architectural specifications for QuadFoam products are available in ARCAT and from Accella.

"This development reflects the strong commitment of resources and energy to deliver best in class leading edge products in the industry," remarked Andy Harris, President and CEO of Accella Performance Materials.
