Quad-Voltage Supervisor conserves energy and board space.

Press Release Summary:

Integrating 4 voltage level monitors in RoHS-compliant, 6-pin SOT23 package, CAT8710 is suited for simultaneously monitoring multiple voltages in microprocessor- or ASIC-based systems. There are 2 factory preset thresholds for monitoring 3.3, 3.0, 2.5, and 1.8 V supplies within ±5% and 2 that are customer-programmable using external resistors and adjustable down to 0.6 V. While product can be operated from 1.5-5.5 V supply, it only draws 3 µA.

ON Semiconductor's New High Efficiency Quad-Voltage Supervisor Saves Board Space and Power in Computing and Consumer Applications

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ONNN) a leading global supplier of high performance, energy efficient silicon solutions for green electronics, has broadened its portfolio of voltage supervisors with the introduction of the CAT8710, a much smaller and space-efficient alternative to many existing solutions. Applications for this device include computing, gaming consoles, set-top boxes, communications and industrial control equipment.

Ideal for simultaneously monitoring multiple voltages in microprocessor or ASIC based systems, the CAT8710 can be operated from a supply voltage of 1.5 to 5.5 Volts and draws just 3 micro-amperes (µA); typically consuming 10 percent of the power required for similar competing products. By integrating four voltage level monitors into a single, six-pin, SOT-23 package, the CAT8710 provides an extremely space-efficient solution that occupies approximately 25 percent of the board space compared to four individually packaged devices. ON Semiconductor has ensured maximum flexibility for design engineers by incorporating two factory preset thresholds for monitoring 3.3V, 3.0V, 2.5V and 1.8V supplies within ±5 percent, and two that are customer programmable using external resistors and adjustable down to 0.6V.

"Space and power efficiency are the two most important considerations in the latest generation product designs," said Thruston Awalt, product marketing manager, Configurable Analog Products, ON Semiconductor. "The CAT8710 quad-voltage supervisor excels in these two areas while also giving design engineers a high degree of flexibility with both preset and programmable monitors."

Packaging and Pricing
The CAT8710 is available in a Pb-free, RoHS-compliant six-pin SOT23 package and is priced at $0.56 per unit in 10,000 unit quantities. Samples are available now. Projected lead-time for production quantities is currently eight to 12 weeks after receipt of order (ARO).
