QDI's WARP 75 Receives FDA Clearance

July 8, 2007

Barneveld, WI July 8, 2007: FDA Clearance for a new medical device, the WARP 75®, has been granted to Quantum Devices, Inc (QDI). Through an SBIR grant from NASA, QDI developed HEALS® (High Emissivity Aluminuferous Light-emitting Substrate) technology. This technology was rewarded with induction into the NASA Space Technology Hall of Fame for their technological advancement in Light-emitting Diodes for Medical Applications.

The WARP 75® has 7.5 times (75cm2) the actual coverage area as the, previously developed, WARP 10® (10cm2). It is air (fan) cooled and can mount to an articulated arm. The device has an automatic timed cycle of 88 seconds with an audible alarm. WARP 75® is AC powered. There are no batteries or recharger.

The WARP 75® is being used in a clinical trial with The Medical College of Wisconsin and The University of Alabama-Birmingham for the Amelioration of Oral Mucositis Pain by NASA Near-Infrared Red Light-emitting Diodes in Bone Marrow Transplant Patients.

The FDA has cleared the following indications for use: The WARP 75® is a high intensity, LED (light emitting diode) unit, intended for the treatment of chronic pain by emitting energy in the near-infrared (near-IR) spectrum. This includes: the temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain, arthritis and muscle spasms; and relieving stiffness, promoting relaxation of muscle tissue and to temporarily increase local blood circulation, where applied.
