QC Software Manufacturing Applications Going Green

CINCINNATI - August 6, 2009 - QC Software is proud to announce that it is taking major steps in proactively identifying and implementing green business practices into its warehouse control software.

Besides protecting the environment, green business practices play an important role in reducing the sharply rising costs of energy, materials, labor, etc. QC Software is helping its customers optimize their resources and energy use by providing them with tools to carefully plan the material handling process from start to finish. By streamlining operations and maximizing throughput, QC Software's customers can significantly minimize waste and improve efficiency.

"Sustainability has always been one of our goals," said Jerry List, Vice President of QC Software, "so it is very gratifying to see the results. Our customers have been extremely pleased with our applications because they have enhanced their green practices while increasing their profitability."

QC is helping its customers go green with the following software applications and features:

o Order Management Software - QC Software's cartonization functionality provides customers with the most efficient packaging solutions for the amount and type of product to be shipped. This results in less dunnage and fewer packages shipped.

o Inventory Management Software - This application allows customers to more accurately plan and manage inventory, thereby optimizing inventory levels and space utilization and reducing inventory loss.

Salt Lake City-based USANA Health Sciences, a customer of QC Software, has experienced great success in their manufacturing and shipping processes with the new "green" software applications. Since the start of 2008, USANA has recycled 160 tons of corrugated cardboard and 13 tons of plastic wrap as a result of its green initiatives. USANA is also working on two energy initiatives to help the company save energy. The first will improve the energy efficiency of USANA's compressed air system and the second will correct for the power factor generated by its manufacturing machinery.

"USANA is dedicated to implementing green initiatives, and we are proud to be working with a company that has the same goals," said USANA Vice President of Operations Jim Brown. "We are grateful that QC Software has provided USANA with valuable tools to continue our mission to protect and preserve the environment."
