National Instruments Delivers New Series Of Pentium 4 And Celeron PXI Controllers
Series Includes the Industry's Fastest 3U PXI Embedded Controller
AUSTIN, Texas - Dec. 16, 2003 - National Instruments (Nasdaq: NATI) today announced a new series of Pentium 4 and Celeron-based embedded PXI/CompactPCI controllers. The series includes the NI PXI-8186 controller, the industry's fastest 3U PXI/CompactPCI embedded controller that features a 2.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor. With the increased processing power of the PXI-8186 controller, engineers can perform more powerful analysis and reduce test time of automated test systems. The NI PXI-8180 Series controllers ease system integration while meeting the demanding reliability requirements of real-time and automated test applications.
"Because our customers deploy PXI systems in applications ranging from real-time control to manufacturing test, NI controllers must meet strict reliability requirements across a variety of operating conditions," said Robert Canik, director of PXI and instrument control for NI. "We heavily integrate testing into both the design and manufacturing process, ensuring a final product that meets these needs without sacrificing performance."
In addition to the NI PXI-8186 controller, the series includes the 1.2 GHz NI PXI-8185 Celeron-based and 850 MHz NI PXI-8184 embedded controllers. These two controllers give engineers a compact, high-performance PC platform for modular instrumentation and are ideal for cost-sensitive applications.
The NI PXI-8180 Series controllers incorporate an extensive set of peripherals - such as hard drive, Ethernet, USB, GPIB and Serial - into a single module to ease system integration. National Instruments PXI embedded controllers operate with all PXI and CompactPCI peripheral modules and are available with Windows XP/2000 or NI LabVIEW Real-Time installed. NI delivers worldwide support for its controllers with installations of Windows in English, Japanese, Spanish, German, Korean, French and traditional Chinese.
Engineers can use these controllers for a wide spectrum of applications - from high-performance automated systems to low-cost embedded systems. The rugged, industrial packaging of the controllers makes them ideal for performing a variety of functions in harsh environments including machine monitoring and control, functional test and data acquisition.
