ELMA Introduces New PXI Line of Chassis
FREMONT, California, July 19, 2004 - Elma Electronic Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products, has announced a new product line of PXI chassis for instrumentation systems. The new PXI line is compliant to PXI Specification R2.0. The first in the Elma series is the 4U Type 15 PXI chassis.
PXI (PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation) defines a rugged PC platform for measurement and instrumentation. The Elma solution features an 18-slot PXI Backplane in 3U height. The 64-bit backplane is designed with controlled-impedance stripline design. The chassis is 4U high x 17" wide x 16" deep and is available in desktop or rackmount styles. Utilizing Elma's modular enclosure design approach, the company is easily able to offer a wide range of configurations.
The Type 15 features rugged double-walled construction, advanced EMC shielding, and a powder-coated aluminum finish. The cover also has an attractive powder coat that hides fixing screws for increased aesthetics. There are options for up to seven test points for all of the voltages, which are easily accessible on the front panel of the chassis. The Type 15 PXI also has four DB9 connectors, an on/off switch, and an ESD Jack on the lower 1U front panel. The rear panel contains an AC inlet and fuses, and a ground stud.
The power supply unit of the Elma PXI chassis meets the X-ray specification for DXP-PX4 systems. With bottom to top airflow design and optimized thermal management through simulation, the chassis has superior cooling capabilities. The desktop version offers flip-up feet with scratchproof rubber soles.
All Elma's chassis come completely wired, assembled, and tested. The company will continue to expand its PXI offering.
