New Punching Machine Features 50-by-50 Working Range TRUMATIC 2010 Rotation

FARMINGTON, Conn., January 31, 2002 - TRUMPF Inc. introduced a new affordable, entry-level punching machine, the TRUMATIC 2010 Rotation, today at its West Coast Technology Center in Fremont, California. The new TC 2020 R features TRUMPF's hallmark hydraulic punching head, all-tool rotation, quick setup and changeover features, as well as brush tables and a new 50-by-50-inch working range.

"The small working range and easy-to-use features of the TC 2010 R make it an ideal machine for a cost-conscious manufacturer looking to transition from conventional to more high-tech CNC processing," says Mike Morissette, punch product manager for TRUMPF Inc. "The working range and brush tables are also useful to computer chassis manufacturers."

Designed for flexibility in "just-in-time" environments, the TC 2010 R is quick and easy to set up or change over between jobs. Changing all ten of the machine's tool stations takes less than three minutes. ToPs Light software, a standard feature of the TC 2010 R, gives the user even more flexibility. The integrated CAD/CAM software lets users create programs offline or at the machine itself to accommodate last minute changes.

"Of course TRUMPF's intelligent punching head design is also part of this value-filled, cost-efficient package," Morissette adds. "The hydraulic ram automatically delivers the punching force necessary for the job without the use of a clutch or brake."

The single station punch head design and linear tool magazine, found on the TC 2010 R and all TRUMPF punching machines, also creates production freedom. This design allows any size or type of tool - for punching, forming, tapping or slitting, even a TRUMPF Multitool® - to go into every station on the linear tool changer and even the punch head, at any time. Furthermore, through the use of the Multitool punching tools, the number of available tools can be expanded to up to 100.

Additional flexibility is created by all-tool rotation, the ability of all TRUMPF tools to rotate 360 degrees, at any time, to quickly achieve any part geometry. This feature also allows unlimited rotation and orientation of any part on a sheet, resulting in maximum material utilization.

"TRUMPF's punching technology also translates into fast hit rates and high accelerations - without sacrificing accuracy," Morissette says. Stroke rates for the TC 2010 R are 2,200 per minute for marking/beading and 900 per minute for punching (at 0.040" pitch). With a positioning accuracy of ± 0.004 inches and a repeatability of ± 0.0012 inches, the TC 2010 R guarantees accuracy even at the highest speeds. A standard brush table also ensures quality finish parts.

"The straightforward operation of TC 2010 R makes it easy to transition from a labor-intensive, manual situation to a more automated and computerized environment," Morissette explains. The TC 2010 R features a control that uses a Windows-based Pentium processor that can be fully networked to save overall production time.

"The new TC 2010 R offers advanced technology in a cost-conscious, entry-level format," Morissette says. "Short tool changeovers make this machine ideal for producing prototypes, as well as for small and medium production runs."
