Strippit/LVD Introduces Siena 1212 CNC Turret Punch Press

New Machine Provides High Production Technologies In An Efficient, Economical Design

Akron, NY-Strippit/LVD introduces Siena 1212, a new CNC turret punch press engineered to address today's metal fabricating requirements by providing high production technologies in an efficient, economical design. High performance features include a 27-station turret with three direct drive 3.5" (88,9 mm) auto-index stations, new easy-to-use graphics interface, and powerful PC-based control.

The Siena 1212 delivers up to 360 hits per minutes on 1" (25,4 mm) centers. The machine provides a ±.004" (0,1 mm) finished part accuracy and ±.002" (0,05 mm) finished part repeatability. It handles workpieces up to 49.2" x 49.2" (1250 x 1250 mm) and material thicknesses up to .250" (6,3 mm). Larger sheets can be processed with clamp repositioning.

"Smart" Stroke Maximizes Punching and Forming Operations

A servo-driven hydraulic ram provides 20 tons of punching force. Fully programmable stroke profiles and Strippit/LVD's exclusive Smart Stroke® feature maximize punching performance and provide flexibility for punching and forming applications.

Smart Stroke® maximizes the productivity of the Siena 1212 without operator or programmer intervention. Smart Stroke automatically optimizes the punch cycle by determining the hover height based on material thickness and distance between holes.

Turret Features Three 3.5" Auto-Index Stations

The Siena 1212 features a 27-station turret with station-to-station tool change time as low as 0.9 second. All turret stations are keyed for maximum tool load flexibility and can punch at Y = 0". Replaceable, hardened steel guide bushings eliminate turret tool bore wear.

The turret punch press is standard with three 3.5" (88,9 mm) auto-index stations. Turret capacity can be further increased with the addition of 3- or 8-station indexable Multi-Tools to expand the number of auto-indexable tools. All auto-index stations are able to accept indexable Multi-Tools and Wilson wheel tools. The Siena 1212 is offered in a thick style turret configuration.

For operator convenience, the new punch press features a large, lighted tool loading area with two-hand turret indexing buttons. The machine is also equipped with quick-change dies bases and outboard shot pins with replaceable bushings. An open table design facilitates material loading.

Heavy-duty Frame Construction

A rugged bridge frame construction provides exceptional accuracy in a fully stress relieved one-piece design. The machine's side tables move with the material in the Y-axis for maximum support and minimum vibration and scratching. Direct drive axis motors provide tight tolerances. The Siena 1212 has a reduced power requirement of 21.4 KVA.

A small machine footprint makes the new Siena 1212 ideal for cell manufacturing environments and for shops with limited floor space.

Powerful PC-based Control

The Siena 1212 features a GE Fanuc 180i control, the most advanced control used on CNC machinery today. The PC-based control speeds set-up and provides powerful features such as full color graphics, advanced "real-time" diagnostics, increased program storage capacity and is network ready for easy transfer of programs from other computers. It also incorporates the patented Smart Clamp(TM) feature that automatically senses clamp locations thereby minimizing "no punch" and "no hover" zones.

Innovative Graphic User Interface

The Siena 1212's innovative user interface provides graphic tool images to aid with selections, making entering tool information easier than ever before. The operator interacts with a single graphic screen. No tool measurements or electronic adjustments are necessary for routine punching, forming and even tapping.

Advanced help screens provide a full turret load screen, as well as default input of dimensions for tooling that is "mechanically" adjusted to specification. Each tool is graphically displayed and pre- and post-punch delay and dwell inputs on forming tool records is provided. A program manager screen facilitates the movement of programs from control memory or remote computers. A job manager function schedules the production order and quantity of programs to be processed.
