Little Giant Introduces Replacement System For Semi-Positive Displacement / Progressive Cavity Systems

Little Giant Pump Company has introduced the 20GH-RFK, a drop-in universal replacement system for wet wells using the E-One type Semi-Positive Displacement Style Grinder Pump.

Lynn McVay, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, said the 20GH-RFK fills a gap in the Low Pressure Sewer Market by presenting a reliable, cost-effective method of replacing the Semi-Positive Displacement Style Grinder Pumps.

"Up till now, Semi-Positive Displacement Style Grinder Pumps have been very hard to replace or update with the Centrifugal Style Grinder Pump," McVay explained. "That's why we designed and introduced our 20G Grinder Series - to give the industry a
competitively priced, reliable alternative. The 20GH-RFK was the next logical step."

The 20GH-RFK uses the existing wire of the E-ONE pump system; the existing control box may be used or upgraded to Little Giant's JBAK, which was developed specifically for use with the 20GH-RFK.

Heart of the 20GH-RFK - Little Giant's 2HP grinder series (20GH) - is powered by a 3450 RPM capacitor start, capacitor run single phase oil-filled motor. There is no rubber stator, greatly reducing the possibility of failure due to abrasives such as egg shells and kitty litter, and from various oils commonly found in wastewater. The 20GH-RFK has a maximum TDH of 110 feet, and a maximum flow of 65 GPM.

The 20G Series' cast-iron motor housing and volute are epoxy coated for corrosion resistance and durability. The design allows easy access to the power cord connection, and prevents oil from wicking up through the power cord.

The 2HP motor's electrical design combines the advantages of high torque output with optimum running efficiency. It is designed specifically for grinder operation and is thermally protected.

The large stainless steel shaft eliminates corrosion and fatigue, providing longer pump life. Minimum shaft overhang decreases deflection and increases bearing and seal life.

Field proven for long service life, the mechanical seal has a ceramic stationary face and a carbon rotating face with Viton® elastomers. Heavy duty upper (radial) and lower (thrust) ball bearings are continuously oil lubricated to insure long service life.

For optimum cooling and long motor life, dielectric oil transfers heat evenly and efficiently from the stator windings. The dynamically balanced impeller is made of bronze material, providing a high level of corrosion resistance and maximum durability. Pressure relief vanes preclude material build-up around shaft and seal.

Tracing its beginnings to 1941, Little Giant's comprehensive line of pumps includes sump, effluent and sewage pumps, condensate pumps, magnetic drive pumps, and utility pumps and pump products, sold through plumbing, HVAC and industrial distribution and other outlets globally.
