Megladon Manufacturing Group Announces New Product Release of Pulse Suppression Box for OTDR testing with HLC® SCRATCHGUARD(TM) Technology

The Only Pulse Suppression Box with Tempered Connector Mating Surfaces for Repeatable Performance

November 12, 2009 - Megladon has made another effort to further diversify its product offerings this week by releasing a ruggedized Pulse Suppression Box for OTDR field testing. Megladon is now building fully customizable Pulse Suppression Box assemblies with HLC and SCATCHGAURD technology for all major glass and connector types.

Also called 'Launch Cables' or 'Dead-Zone Eliminators,' the pulse suppression box is placed between the OTDR and link under test. Because the OTDR pulse must travel a minimum distance before returning reliable results, a Pulse Suppression Box is necessary to deliver consistent test results in network certifications. Megladon is able to control the test characteristics of the Pulse Suppression Box very carefully, so that it also serves as a valuable field calibration tool as well. "It is critical that network technicians use the proper tools in fiber network testing," says Daniel Hogberg, Product Group Manager for Megladon, "the Pulse Suppression Box is not only a dead zone elimination tool, but a reference grade fiber cable that provides more accurate field testing and predictable calibration."

The Pulse Suppression Box developed by Megladon serves as an extremely durable replacement for fiber spools or long cable assemblies that wear out quickly and are easily damaged in field conditions. Megladon's assemblies are housed in drop resistant, water proof cases that come in a variety of sizes and colors, and the glass components are sealed from contact to provide added security. All Pulse Suppression Boxes are built using Megladon's patented HLC (Hardened Lens Contact) termination process which ensures industry leading performance and SCRATCHGAURD technology for increased connector mating surface durability.

Megladon Manufacturing Group, Ltd., a subsidiary of TyRex Group Ltd. ®, is recognized as a leader in the fiber optic marketplace. Founded in 1997, Megladon made it their mission to provide customers with fiber optic products that far exceed industry standards.
