Pulse Combustion Systems Develops and Prototypes Indirectly Heated Pulse Dryer for High-Purity Products and Solvent Drying



In response to a customer request, Pulse Combustion Systems (PCS) has created an "indirectly-heated" version of its Pulse Combustion Dryer.  Instead of burning fuel in a combustion chamber, this new dryer employs either an electric heating element or an air-to-air heat exchanger to heat the drying gas.  Thus, the drying gas is pure air (or CO2, or N2), with no combustion byproducts, and no potential for flame contact with the products to be dried.



"We are very pleased with this new dryer model," says PCS President James A. Rehkopf, "and our Pilot-Scale prototype worked perfectly.  All other attributes of pulse drying have been retained - gas-dynamic atomization and rapid drying, low degradation of delicate products, and high efficiency that is associated with Pulse Drying."



PCS plans to use this new dryer model for the drying of ultra-high-purity products and for solvent-based products.



The company's Indirect Pulse Dryer Prototype is available for Pilot Trials of customer products.
