Proximity Sensor features NEMA 4X and IP67 ratings.

Press Release Summary:

SUPERPROX® Model SM300FP has 1.3 x 0.3 x 0.75 in. flat profile housing and detects materials at distances of 0.25 to 4.00 in. from sensor face. Ultrasonic sensor requires no adjustments to compensate for different materials being detected including metals, rubber, and plastics. Epoxy face is unaffected by dirt, water, sawdust, oil, film, and other contaminants. It is also unaffected by magnetic fields and transient voltage.

Miniature Prox Has 12X Standard Prox Range

DAYTON, Ohio (June 10, 2002)
The SUPERPROX® Model SM300FP Series, another innovation from Hyde Park Electronics, is a low cost, ultrasonic proximity sensor offering the combination of a small, 33.0 mm x 7.62 mm x 19.05 mm (1.3" x 0.3" x 0.75") flat-profile housing and reliable detection of all materials at distances of 6.35 mm (0.25") to as far as 102 mm (4.00") from the sensor face. This is up to 12 times farther than many 30 mm diameter prox sensors. At these distances, the SM300FP is safely out of harm's way, thus saving the cost of periodically replacing a damaged sensor. Whereas, many metal inductive prox sensors are rated at operating distances less than 9 mm (0.35") which requires the sensor to almost touch the object being detected.

Broad functionality enables the 12 to 24 VDC sensors to be either field programmable or fixed field from the factory. A field programmable sensor used in conjuction with our new configuration package that includes SUPERPROX+(TM) configuration software and configuration interface, Model AC441, allows the user window setting capability. The user can program and reprogram these sensors in the field, on-the-fly until the program is precisely configured for the application saving time and money. And if fully tamper-proof sensors are needed, the fixed field units are available from the factory offering either 51 mm (2") or 102 mm (4") range.

In contrast with other proximity sensing technologies, the "install-it-and-forget-it", ultrasonic sensor requires no adjustments to compensate for the different materials being detected including metals, rubber and plastics to name just a few. No adjustments are required for colors, changing colors, light conditions and distance to the object.

The small, ULTEM® blue plastic housing is easily installed in difficult-to-mount, space-confined areas found on most conveyor line applications. The epoxy face of the sensor is unaffected by dirt, water, sawdust, oil, film and other contaminants. The sensor is also unaffected by magnetic fields and transient voltage. With protection ratings of NEMA 4X and IP67, the CE-certified SM300FP sensor resists most acids and bases and is compatible with many chemicals, cleaning solutions and chemical-based products encountered in harsh environments.
