LeCroy's New Protocol Analyzers Speed Time-to-Market for Next-Generation Data Storage Solutions

Avalanche(TM) and STX-460 Support Industry's Migration to 6Gb SAS and SATA Interfaces

CHESTNUT RIDGE, N.Y.-LeCroy Corporation (NASDAQ: LCRY), a leading supplier of oscilloscopes and serial data test solutions, today announced the release of two new protocol analyzers, Avalanche(TM) and STX-460, that enable data storage system and component developers to speed time-to-market for advanced products. The Company's new protocol analyzers support Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) and Serial ATA (SATA) traffic speeds up to 6Gbps, allowing users to analyze protocol traffic of higher performance interfaces.

"We believe that the migration to SAS and SATA among data storage and component developers is accelerating because of the performance levels that 6Gbps interfaces will provide," said LeCroy Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Scott Bausback. "Our protocol solutions enable developers to quickly identify problems and solutions, thus speeding time to market. With our suite of SAS and SATA protocol solutions, including the Avalanche(TM) and STX-460, we are well positioned to capitalize on the industry rollout of next-generation serial data technology."

The Avalanche(TM) protocol analyzer will operate on LeCroy's SAS Suite(TM) 2.9 and SATA Suite(TM) analyzer software for SAS and SATA protocol traffic. The analyzer features advanced triggering and pre-filtering options that allow users to isolate their searches to intermittent issues that might otherwise take many hours or even days to find. The post-processing reporting and search tools enable users to find what they need in large trace files. The Avalanche(TM) system is capable of raw bit recording, giving users the ability to analyze traffic at the lowest possible level.

The STX-460 protocol analyzer is equipped with the user interface and feature set found in the widely adopted STX-431 and STX-231 platforms. The STX-460 has four ports for connecting to host and target devices and eight systems that can be cascaded together to provide up to 32 ports of simultaneous connections and also features 4GB of memory for capturing large amounts of protocol traffic within a single trace file. Powerful pre-filtering options enable users to capture only the most meaningful information in every trace.
