Eaton Introduces First in E-Series Line of Protective Relays

PITTSBURGH... Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced the first in its line of E-Series Protective Relays, the EDR-3000. The EDR-3000 provides three-phase and ground overcurrent protection with reclosing capabilities. In addition to integrating several protective features in a cost-effective package, the EDR-3000 improves the overall safety and reliability of the system by offering multiple setting groups, reducing arc flash energy levels and providing zone interlocking to enhance coordination. The launch of the E-Series bolsters Eaton's relay offerings through their microprocessor-based overcurrent design, compatible with both American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) applications. It is a panel-mounted, self-contained unit which operates from either alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC) control power. The EDR-3000 design provides true root mean square (RMS) and fundamental sensing of each phase and ground current. Additionally, the E-Series combines a common software platform and menu with multiple communications options in a modular scalable design. Their intuitive programming substantially reduces operator training time and provides unmatched operability and flexibility. "The release of the EDR-3000 marks a significant step forward for Eaton and our ability to enhance traditional power distribution applications," said Edgar Perez, product manager, Eaton's Protective Relay group. "We're offering our customers a technologically-advanced, safe, and easy-to-use relay." The Eaton EDR-3000 offers multiple communication options including an Ethernet port to communicate via Modbus-TCP. Additionally, it can be easily integrated to the Eaton's Power Xpert Software monitoring system allowing direct monitoring through a web browser with Eaton's Power Xpert Gateway.
