3M Launches its First Protective Coverall to Defend Against Chemical Spray



Chemical-protective garment helps give wearers greater confidence in protection



ST. PAUL, Minn. – 3M has launched the new Protective Coverall 4570 to help protect wearers from harmful chemical jet sprays and infective agents, and to help offer greater peace of mind. The new coverall meets the European Type 3 garment classification, specific to liquid l jets and sprays, and has a higher level of chemical holdout than previous coveralls offered by 3M.



In addition to the added protection from the advanced film technology, the garment’s seams are sealed with a multi-layer clear tape to help provide a barrier to hazardous dusts and pressurized liquid jets.



“Not only is the new coverall designed to offer better protection against chemical jet sprays, but it also offers other design features such as thumb loops, a three panel hood design and storm flaps, weave safety throughout the whole garment,” said John Gessner, portfolio manager, 3M.



This type of garment is suited for employees tasked with cleanup of certain hazardous chemicals as well as tank cleaning. It is also certified for protection against certain infective agents and biohazards.
