Zontec Unveils Innovative Data Access Tools
Cincinnati, OH - Zontec Inc., developer of Synergy 2000(TM) statistical process control (SPC) software, has announced two new programming utilities - the S2K DLL and S2K ActiveX DLL - that open 5240 the door to accessing quality assurance information regardless of its data format or where the data is stored.
The S2K DLL and ActiveX DLL allow Synergy 2000 users to communicate with virtually any data source including SQL databases, enterprise requirements planning (ERP) and manufacturing execution systems, supply chain management applications, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), metrology equipment or data collected with other software applications. Application developers use the DLL modules to rapidly create custom interfaces for Synergy 2000 that perform seamlessly at the desktop level. The DLLs provide pre-fabricated software plug-ins that significantly automate the development, customization and testing of application front-ends to Zontec's software.
The S2K DLL and ActiveX DLL are based on Microsoft's Universal Data Access strategy, the technology giant's most performance-oriented data handling technique to date.
"During the 1990s, businesses became interested in data warehousing and data mining as an important corporate resource," says Warren Ha, Zontec President. "Unfortunately, process data existed in various formats across numerous computing platforms making it difficult, if not impossible, for PC users to access in real-time. ODBC (Open Data Base Connectivity) was an early but disappointing attempt to address these access problems. We consider Microsoft's ActiveX Data Objects a breakthrough that will allow IT Departments to create a fast path to measurement and inspection data. Our users can then monitor, chart and analyze process information and generate custom reports using Synergy 2000 or collect the data in Synergy 2000 and store it within the corporate data warehouse."
The S2K DLL and ActiveX DLL can be used in such familiar development environments as C, C++, Visual Basic®, Delphi, or ActiveX to achieve connectivity with any operating system including Linux and UNIX.
