Data I/O's FS300FC High-Speed Programming Architecture Allows F2812 Customers to Reduce Time to Market and Manufacturing Costs

Data I/0 Announces First Automated Programming Solution for Texas Instrument's F2812 DSP

REDMOND, Wash.---January 21, 2004--Data I/O® (Nasdaq:DAIO - News), the leading provider of manual and automated programming systems, announced high volume programming support for Texas Instruments' TMS320F2812 digital signal controller on the Data I/O PS300 automated programming system . With this support, Texas Instruments' automotive, whitegoods and industrial customers now have a fast, cost efficient high throughput programming solution for the flash-based F2812 controller.

"Our collaboration with Data I/O has resulted in a very innovative programming solution for our mutual customers," said Jennifer Skinner-Gray, TMS320C2000(TM) marketing manager, Texas Instruments. "TI continues to work closely with Data I/O to assure that our customers using Data I/O PS300 systems products have volume programming support for new Texas Instrument C2000 controllers as they become available."

The 32-bit F2812 digital signal controller is the highest performance digital signal processing core optimized for control applications that require the peripheral set and ease-of-use of a microcontroller (MCU) with the processing power of TI's leading digital signal processing (DSP) technology. The result is a highly integrated system on chip (SoC) like device that is able to handle control system processing requirements, as well as replace control system host MCUs.

High Speed Programming

The PS300 is an automated system that accommodates up to twelve, four-socket adapters, surpassing any throughput currently available. The machine is designed specifically for Flash based applications and is ideally suited to DSP programming. The PS300 has a unique architecture that delivers the lowest programming cost for high-density Flash-based devices. This is accomplished by a combination of exceptional programming speed, reliable handler platform, system scalability, and software-based process control.

"The PS300 system answers the real business needs of our customers, offering them the highest programming flexibility and the lowest possible programming cost," said Mark Briant, Data I/O Product Manager for Automated Systems. "When coupled with a TF30 Tray Feeder this gives significant benefits, in terms of non-stop machine performance, usability and maximizing throughput, operator intervention of an automated machine is not only costly in labor and but throughput also."
