ONTARIO, CANADA – Wieland Electric Inc., a leading global manufacturer of innovative electrical interconnect technology, has developed the next generation of its samosPRO programmable safety controller, the samos®PRO COMPACT. With a width of only 45mm, the compact module simplifies safety solutions, while controlling safety functions for a wide variety of industrial applications. It is complemented by a free programming tool, samos® PLAN5+, making programming even simpler, safer and more flexible.

Compact, efficient, safe
The compact module packs a punch, with 16 safe inputs, four safe outputs, and four configurable safe inputs/outputs. The SD program memory card format is easy to handle, and saves time during commissioning, copying, and maintenance. Furthermore, an extensive library of certified, powerful function blocks is available for programming the system using the free samos® PLAN5+ software tool.
Powerful and communicative
The samos® PRO COMPACT’s integrated USB and Ethernet interfaces enable system access at any time. Industrial Ethernet protocols are integrated in the base module, and additional gateways are available. The online diagnostics and system logbook integrated into the samos® PLAN5+ tool provide user support for remote maintenance of the system.
The rugged samos® PRO COMPACT can be used under harsh ambient conditions, with a switching capacity of 4A at each system output and an operating temperature range of -25°C to +65°C.
The samos® PLAN5+ enables standard-compliant documentation of the machine by issuing a tailored report. The module meets all relevant safety standards, including SIL CL 3 according to EN 62061 and PL e / category 4 according to EN ISO 13849-1. The samos® PRO COMPACT is cULus certified.
