LearnWithGateway Professional Services Help Educational Institutions More Easily Integrate Technology Into Curricula to Maximize Learning

Gateway Makes it Even Easier for K-12 and Higher Education Customers to Buy and Use Technology

IRVINE, Calif., June 28 -- Gateway, Inc. today broadened significantly its commitment to education customers through the launch of a new set of services designed to effectively integrate technology into the classroom. LearnWithGateway Professional Services is a comprehensive and customizable offering for educators that include professional development, software and curriculum identification, full service planning, and design and deployment of a technology integrated curriculum.

"This new professional services category, which was designed based on feedback from our existing educational clients, reinforces Gateway's commitment to the education market by providing expertise and resources that help educational institutions where they need it most," said Dan Ludwick, Gateway Vice President, Professional Services. "In the current educational environment, technology is a core tool for institutions to influence efficiency and effectiveness throughout the academic process. At Gateway we understand that technology on its own isn't enough. Without the right planning, implementation and maintenance solution, schools realize only a fraction of the potential return."

The LearnWithGateway Professional Services are designed to help schools in five major categories:

o Assessment -- The Gateway team of education consultants provides a complete assessment of instructional technology needs for each school. They have the expertise to look at all aspects of an institution to identify the primary areas for improvement, whether it is servers for the infrastructure, desktops and notebooks for the classroom, or specific software programs for teachers and students.

o Planning -- After assessing where technology can be most beneficial, a long-term strategic Instructional Technology Plan is developed. Schools need to examine plans for infrastructure, curriculum and instruction, professional development, technical support and marketing/funding. To aide in this evaluation, LearnWithGateway offers the assessment of a school's full instructional technology needs, educational software and instructional technology facilitation plan. This plan will encompass all needed actions, timelines, assigned responsibilities and costs associated with achieving the plan.

o Design -- Once the plan is created, the consultants will design necessary learning programs and tools to help integrate technology into the classroom, to help maximize students' academic achievement levels.

o Implementation -- Depending on each district's need, LearnWithGateway consultants will assist through all or part of the implementation process. This ensures that each step in the plan is followed and results are achieved. They additionally provide instructor-led courses that include printed materials to help teachers effectively use the technology purchased or currently used by the school, regardless of platform.

o Support -- The LearnWithGateway team will help support each school district throughout this process, providing quarterly follow-up and mentor support as needed. They also provide ongoing review and a professional development management system that includes planning and implementation.

To help make training easier, Gateway offers optional e-learning courseware libraries with thousands of topics as part of the LearnWithGateway program. These courses are grouped in libraries based on subject matter, such as the Teach America subscription, where more than 50 courses qualify for continuing education unit (CEU) credits. This e-learning system allows institutions to provide educators or students with access to online learning tools at their convenience. The course catalog at www.LearnWithGateway.com shows the content of each library.

To track, assess and manage the professional development being accomplished by teachers, LearnWithGateway offers institutions an optional web-based learning management system (LMS). This LMS program allows institutions to track and verify teachers' professional development, a critical requirement in applying for grant money. Additionally, users of the LMS can upload content and assessments to the e-learning content system.

The combination of LearnWithGateway e-learning content, Learning Management System, and LearnWithGateway Professional Services provides educational institutions with the tools to improve the learning experience and raise academic achievement levels.

Schools can choose from three implementation service levels -- Technology Fundamentals, Assessment and Planning, or Total Program Management.

o Technology Fundamentals allows users to choose from a list of professional development courses that help teachers embrace and integrate technology. This package includes a review and written assessment of a school's long-range technology plan.

o Assessment and Planning enables LearnWithGateway consultants to help determine learning goals as it relates to an organization's strategic plan. Consultants will facilitate the development of an organization's learning plan, including the necessary components of infrastructure, academic courses and instructional techniques, support, and marketing/funding. Also, consultants will detail strategies and actions, resources, timelines and methods of evaluation for a complete implementation.

o Total Program Management allows the LearnWithGateway consultants to facilitate the creation of a long-range instructional technology plan, and to serve as the project manager in implementing all professional development courses needed to implement and complete the plan.

The LearnWithGateway consultative services start at $3,000 per day. The LearnWithGateway LMS prices start at $9.50 per user. Prices for the e-learning system vary based on the size of the library being accessed. To find out more about the LearnWithGateway program, visit the website at www.LearnWithGateway.com.
