Original Press Release:

Honeywell Announces Release 440 of OptiVISION Order Fulfillment and Production Optimization Solution

PHOENIX, Arizona, January 24, 2002 - Honeywell [NYSE: HON] Industry Solutions today announced general availability of OptiVISION® Release 440, the industry-leading order fulfillment and production optimization solution for the pulp and paper and flat-sheet industries. The new release provides companies with expanded ability to achieve their business objectives.

Examples of Release 440 features that deliver cost-cutting efficiencies and business improvement opportunities include:
-Standard interfaces to logistic management systems (beyond OptiVISION's standard load plan) for improved transportation efficiency
-Wireless PC support for enhanced warehouse efficiency
-System navigation through the use of tab forms for improved workflow
-Preferred-customer highlighting to ensure customer satisfaction
-Global cost-based sourcing at order entry to enable profit maximization on each order.

Each of these examples provides incremental ROI for those customers who are upgrading, and a competitive advantage over other options for new customers.

Ron Powell, Vice President and General Manager of Honeywell's Pulp, Paper and Printing business, said, "This release of OptiVISION includes over 20 user-suggested enhancements, as well as significant functional improvements that take advantage of new technologies now available."

"The 30 years of accumulated Business Logic that powers OptiVISION could easily run a paper company right out of the box," Powell said. "This is in fact the case at several sites, where customers have no, or very few, custom features, keeping their support and upgrade costs to a minimum. They may never have to buy and commission a system from scratch again, which is important considering the size of the task to implement company-wide information systems."

The product philosophy behind the OptiVISION solution allows for user-suggested enhancements and broader functionality to be integrated into the standard product for use at new installations or for upgrading existing systems. Users of the OptiVISION solution experience improved ROI on their original investment and keep current with the latest technologies available-enabling them to focus on their core competencies and not worry about enhancing their information systems.

The Honeywell OptiVISION solution manages the total range of manufacturing information needs of a single mill or a multi-mill enterprise. Besides order entry and order status capabilities, its broad applications also handle scheduling, trimming, producing, tracking, inventorying, shipping, and invoicing.

OptiVISION is currently installed at over 100 sites worldwide, including many of the largest paper manufacturers. More than 135 additional sites have chosen earlier generations of the product.
