Production Flow on RoundTracks: STROTHMANN Implement Assembly Line for Haas Grinding Machines

Introducing one-piece flow assembly, Haas Schleifmaschinen from Trossingen, Germany, have improved the quality of their production planning and cut down throughput time. The new assembly line consists of nine stations. Every three days, the assemblies are moved one station ahead. Therefore, customers can be given the precise acceptance date seven weeks before the start of final assembly. RoundTrack technology from STROTHMANN Machines Handling enables ergonomic, resource-friendly transport of the machines. The intra-logistics system is very plain and unobtrusive. Three rails were installed in the shop floor and backfilled with screed. The polished RoundTracks pose no obstacle when walking across. The grinding centers weighing several tons are placed on two compact carts. Due to the system's minimal running resistance, even fully loaded carts can be moved by hand. The one-time investment in floor rails and multi-purpose carts enabled Haas to realize a long-life intra-logistics solution that creates no extra operating costs.
