Process Control System supports flexible PVC extrusion.

Press Release Summary:

By eliminating lay-flat issues, width and gage variations, uneven shrinkage, and tendency of material to curve slightly to one side when unwound, Process Control System ensures complete dimensional uniformity and tension throughout bulk PVC rolls produced. Prior to control, operators would have to manually adjust line to maintain consistency on product-to-product basis. Control eliminates guesswork.

Original Press Release:

Proprietary Process System Provides Superior Quality for Extruded Flexible PVC

TMI, LLC has developed a new proprietary process control system for its flexible PVC extrusion process. This new system ensures complete dimensional uniformity and tension throughout the bulk PVC rolls produced.

The new process eliminates “racetracking” (i.e., the tendency of the material to curve slightly to one side when unwound), lay-flat issues, width and gage variations and uneven shrinkage, resulting in an entirely uniform product.

“It takes the art out of the plastics process and makes it more of a science,” Bill Habeck, General Manager of TMI’s PVC extrusion facility, said. “Prior to the new control, operators would have to manually adjust the line to maintain consistency on a product-to-product basis. This takes the guesswork out,” Habeck said.

TMI extrudes a wide variety of flexible PVC strip, sheet and panel ranging in gage from .030” up to .500”. Additional information on TMI’s extrusion capabilities is available by calling 1.800.888.9750.
