Process Analyzer offers dual capability.

Press Release Summary:

Model 931 simultaneously measures hydrogen and hydrogen sulfide in tail gas treatment units, eliminating need for separate monitors. It is suited for monitoring hydrogenation reactors that use hydrogen to convert sulfur dioxide and other unreduced sulfur compounds into hydrogen sulfide that is then scrubbed from gas stream with amine absorber system. UV photometric analyzer is certified for use in Class I, Division 1, and Zone 1 hazardous locations.

New AMETEK Analyzer Simultaneously Monitors Hydrogen and Hydrogen Sulfide

Reduces Costs by Eliminating Need for Separate Monitoring Units

CALGARY, Alberta - AMETEK Process Instruments has developed a new process analyzer able to simultaneously measure hydrogen (H2) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) by engineering its new Model 931 Hydrogen Sulfide Analyzer to perform hydrogen analysis as well.

The modified version of the Model 931 reduces costs and system complexity by eliminating the need for a separate analyzer to measure the hydrogen concentration. Its dual capability is ideal for monitoring hydrogenation reactors that use hydrogen (H2 ) to convert sulfur dioxide (SO2) and other unreduced sulfur compounds into hydrogen sulfide (H2S) that is then scrubbed from the gas stream with an amine absorber system.

The hydrogen (H2) measurement allows unit operators to ensure an adequate hydrogen supply to the hydrogenation reactors, while minimizing consumption of valuable hydrogen gas. By monitoring the residual hydrogen sulfide (H2S) concentration exiting the unit's amine absorber the analyzer also provides a measurement of the absorber's efficiency.

The standard Model 931 Analyzer is a rugged, single-component UV photometric gas analyzer housed in an explosion-proof package designed for a variety of gas monitoring and process control applications. Using AMETEK's proprietary high-resolution UV technology, the Model 931 is a flexible, low-maintenance analyzer designed to cost-effectively solve many process control and monitoring issues.

Both versions are certified for use in Class I, Division 1 and Zone 1 hazardous locations and are part of a family of process analyzers offered by AMETEK Process Instruments for sulfur recovery and natural gas processing.
