Procera Networks Delivers over 150Gbps NFV Performance with PacketLogic/V(TM)

Groundbreaking performance on 2RU Intel® Architecture-based Platforms

FREMONT, Calif. - Procera Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: PKT), the global Subscriber Experience company, announced today that they have optimized their PacketLogic/V™ virtualized software solution to demonstrate over 150Gbps running on Intel® Xeon® Processor E5 v3 Family-based commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) platforms, which eliminates performance barriers associated with deploying network functions virtualization (NFV) solutions. With this new benchmark, increased from the last reported performance tests of 40Gbps, Procera continues to set the standard in NFV performance, enabling network operators to rapidly gain the deep insight they need to improve network flexibility and service agility.

"These performance results are groundbreaking," said James Brear, President and CEO at Procera Networks, "PacketLogic/V has demonstrated the highest NFV performance in the industry to date with full Layer-7 Subscriber Experience Intelligence functionality enabled. Our customers can begin taking full advantage of NFV and virtualization in their networks today."

Procera's NFV performance was achieved through participation in the Intel® Network Builders program and was focused on demonstrating that high-performance NFV applications can be successfully deployed on Intel® architecture-based COTS platforms and utilizing the Data Plane Development Kit.

"Enabling high throughput in virtual network functions is critical to the success of NFV," said Renu Navale, Director of the Intel Network Builders program. "We're working closely with innovative companies, such as Procera, to optimize their solutions for Intel networking technologies, which will enable new levels of performance and streamline product development."

This demonstration also establishes Procera Networks as ready to capitalize today on the vast NFV market opportunity. According to Infonetics' Carrier SDN and NFV Hardware and Software market size and forecast report[1, the global carrier SDN and NFV hardware and software market is expected to grow from less than $500 million in 2013 to over $11 billion in 2018.

Procera's performance testing was conducted on an Intel® Xeon® processor E5 2600 v3 system and running PacketLogic/V software in a virtual machine with multiple 40Gbps Intel® Ethernet Converged Network Adapters with SR-IOV enabled. The PacketLogic/V software had comprehensive Subscriber Experience Intelligence functionality and congestion management rules enabled, simulating a real world deployment, and the traffic rate was increased into the VNF until packets were dropped. PacketLogic/V software performed at over 150Gbps for traffic below the average packet size seen on the Internet. The software version used in this test is generally available now.
