LOS GATOS, CA - Procera® Networks, Inc. (AMEX: PKT), a pioneering developer of telco-class network traffic and service management infrastructure equipment, today announced that StarNordic AS, a leading competitive triple-play provider, has deployed Procera's PacketLogic platform to ensure quality of service (QoS) and provide advanced bandwidth management capabilities across its fiber-optic network. Procera partner Fiberdata, a leading Scandinavian systems integrator, provided StarNordic with consultation, design and installation expertise for this first deployment of PacketLogic in Norway.
StarNordic was founded with the goal of providing top-tier triple-play services, including voice, video and broadband services, to residential and business users throughout Norway. The company provides its customers with a range of bandwidth offerings from 10 Mbps to 100 Mbps bidirectional capacity delivered via the company's fiber-to-the-home and -business (FTTx) network. To compete in the marketplace against Norway's incumbent telco and other competitive providers, StarNordic sought a broadband application management solution that would ensure a high-quality customer experience while optimizing bandwidth usage.
"Bandwidth is very expensive in Norway compared to the Swedish market, and our voice and video services in particular are very susceptible to degradation in quality if adequate bandwidth is not available for their use," said Frank Veum, CTO for StarNordic AS. "Procera's PacketLogic has allowed us to hold the line on additional investment in broadband capacity, while delivering the highest-quality services for our customers -- both of which are key competitive advantages for StarNordic."
In addition to PacketLogic's monitoring, optimization and traffic analysis capabilities, StarNordic plans to utilize the product's Python-based API to integrate with third-party applications in the near future.
"We congratulate Fiberdata on this prestigious first deployment in Norway, and welcome StarNordic as a new PacketLogic customer," said Sven Nowicki, general manager of EMEA for Procera Networks. "For broadband service providers throughout the world, and especially for triple-play operators, PacketLogic provides powerful broadband traffic and application management capabilities that assure end-customers of high-quality service."
The PacketLogic product family includes the PL5600, PL7600, PL7620 and PL9200 models, which range from 2 Mbps to 8 Gbps bidirectional throughput capacity. The modular software design includes Surveillance (standard in all PacketLogic systems), Filtering, Traffic Shaping, and Statistics options.
