Printer Technology Moves Small Businesses Seamlessly Between Paper and Digital Worlds

LEXINGTON, Ky., Dec. 11 -- It is frustrating when you need to edit a document and don't have the original computer file. Small businesses often resort to having an employee retype the document, a tedious task that can increase costs and slow business productivity. Today's multifunction printer technology solves these problems, making it easy for businesses to move between the paper and digital worlds.

Through optical character recognition (OCR), you can scan a document into your printer and it will save the document as editable text, eliminating the need to retype information.

"By utilizing OCR software capabilities, tasks that typically took hours can be completed in minutes," said Marty Canning, Lexmark vice president and president of its Printing Solutions and Services Division. "This saves money, reduces errors and improves business productivity."

Many of Lexmark's inkjet all-in-one (AIO) printers and laser multifunction products (MFPs) include OCR capabilities. For example, the Lexmark X6570 Wireless AIO comes standard with Lexmark's exclusive Productivity Studio software. Among the many features of this software, users can scan hardcopy documents and convert them to digital formats easily. These documents can then be printed, copied, faxed, edited and stored. Priced at $149*, the Lexmark X6570 Wireless AIO features print speeds up to 28 pages per minute (ppm)** in black and 24 ppm** in color as well as a robust 25-sheet automatic document feeder. The AIO also includes wireless capabilities standard, two-sided printing, and advanced photo features such as media card slots and a PictBridge(TM) port.

Lexmark also offers laser MFPs that can print, copy, fax and scan. When coupled with the Lexmark Document Solutions Suite (LDSS), documents can be stored as well as moved between digital and hard copy formats. LDSS offers flexible, adaptable, practical solutions for the unique way you do business.

The Lexmark X342n laser MFP makes it easy for small businesses to move between the paper and digital worlds. Priced at $399*, the Lexmark X342n allows users to print, copy, fax and scan on a space-saving, networked laser MFP. The Lexmark X342n prints at speeds up to 27 ppm, and features book hinges and legal-size glass that provide flexibility to scan and copy large documents and books.

For small businesses that need affordable access to high-quality color laser printing, copying, scanning and faxing, the Lexmark X502n color laser MFP features impressive quality, speed and features for $699*. The Lexmark X502n prints at speeds up to 31 ppm in black and eight ppm in color, and features rapid transmission speeds that allow users to send faxes in as little as three seconds.
