Weber Introduces Versatile RFID Smart Label Printer/Encoder

Arlington Heights, IL-Weber Marking Systems has announced the introduction of its R4Mplus RFID smart label printer/encoder, a system that combines smart label encoding and verification with thermal/thermal-transfer printing to help comply with the emerging RFID supply chain requirements of major retailers and government agencies

The R4Mplus encodes information on very thin, ultra-high-frequency (UHF) transponders embedded in smart labels, and simultaneously verifies that the encoding is correct. In addition, the printer is designed to support Electronic Product Code (EPC) RFID standards as they develop.

The unit also prints text, bar codes and/or graphics on the surface of labels at a resolution of 203 dpi. It prints and encodes labels up to 4.5" wide and 39" long at speeds up to 10" per second. The R4Mplus printer/encoder is built with a die-cast aluminum frame and body for dependable performance in industrial settings.

Pressure-sensitive smart labels embedded with EPC UHF Class 1 transponders are supplied by Weber. These labels also are suitable for thermal/thermal-transfer imprinting.
