Burkert Introduces Type 8311 Pressure Mini-Transmitter

Intelligent unit features two-wire 4-20mA output and two transistor switch outputs

Irvine, Calif., May 25, 2004 - Burkert announces the Type 8311 Pressure Mini-Transmitter, boasting a two-wire 4-20mA output and two transistor switch outputs. In a single package, this intelligent unit offers indication, monitoring, transmitting, continuous on/off control and high/low alarm capabilities. It is designed for applications that include pressure control, filter monitoring and pump dry-run protection.

The Type 8311 employs two NPN or two PNP programmable transistor switch outputs (open collector/700mA max.). The menu-driven unit is programmed via a three-key pad, with critical data presented on an extra-large, eight-character digital display that also incorporates a 10-segment bargraph. The process value (4-20mA) is transmittable to a PLC.

Measuring range for the Type 8311 is 0-29 psi/0-729 psi. Accuracy is ±1% fs, while repeatability is ±0.06%. Medium temperature range is -4°F to 212°F; ambient range is -4°F to 140°F.

The software installed in the Type 8311 permits display and storage of minimum/maximum values. Measuring range and switch points are freely programmable, and default parameters can be easily reset. Unit calibration is efficiently handled via Burkert's unique teach-in function, while a simulation mode allows dry-run testing of switch point programming and 4-20mA output. The unit features a failure mode. In addition, for security, the Type 8311 is pass code-protected.

The Type 8311 features a ceramic cell sensor element. Pressure cell service life is 100 million cycles (min.). The unit housing is constructed of PC, while wetted parts are fabricated of 316L stainless steel, FPM and EPDM. Voltage supply is 12-30 VDC.
