Pressure Transmitter Delivers Exceptional Performance for Off-Highway Applications

Made to perform in rugged conditions and challenging terrain, off-highway equipment has become increasingly sophisticated and versatile. As a result, the control systems of these heavy-duty machines have also become more complex. But additional control system functionality means less space for components - and, as with all off-highway equipment, reliability, accuracy, and value for money are paramount. Bearing these needs in mind, Danfoss launched the MBS 8250 pressure transmitter in February 2010 - and a US-based off-highway equipment manufacturer was one of the first to put a tailored version to the test.

MBS 8250 - the right choice
The off-highway original equipment manufacturer (OEM) needed a compact pressure transmitter for its wheel loaders. Required to control functions such as monitor the load weighing system and the brake accumulator pressure, the pressure transmitter needed a high accuracy tolerance over a wide temperature range. Danfoss was developing the slim-line MBS 8250 at the time, and it seemed a good match for the OEM's needs.

So, a team of engineers from Danfoss worked closely with the OEM to ensure the new transmitter was tailored to meet the company's exact requirements. The close cooperation also involved intensive testing, including humidity cycle, long-term stability, and pressure testing at the Danfoss lab - and in the field. And to show that all the design and specification requirements had been understood and met, Danfoss delivered the standard production part approval process (PPAP) documentation to the client.

The MBS 8250 pressure transmitter with an integrated pulse snubber has proved to be the accurate and reliable solution the OEM was looking for. Able to withstand cavitation, liquid hammer and pressure peaks, the MBS 8250 is helping the OEM's wheel loaders lift and move heavy loads, no matter how rugged the conditions.
