Original Press Release:

New Submersible Smart KPSI(TM) Transducer With Modbus Protocol Now Available From Pressure Systems, Inc.

Hampton, VA, April 2002 -- Pressure Systems, Inc., manufacturer of submersible and above ground transducers, has added a new pressure transducer with Modbus protocol (RS-485 command/response) to its family of smart KPSI(TM) level transducers. The submersible Series 510 supports the operation of multiple devices through a single intrinsically safe barrier.

The new transducer is ideal for remote environmental monitoring applications that require battery-powered operation with minimal current drain, as well as applications where multiple sensors on a single data recorder are daisy-chained to one cable. Specific
applications include inventory tank gauging, well monitoring and dewatering, level monitoring, ground and surface water monitoring, down hole applications and reservoirs.

The microprocessor-based transducer uses the Modbus-ASCII framing format and operates at 1200, 2400 or 4800 baud. It features excellent repeatability and provides an accuracy of +/- 0.05% FS total error band. Additionally, the new transducer is optimized for low power consumption and features an optional sleep mode.

The Series 510 is available in pressure ranges from 0-5 psig through 0-1 00 psig, with custom pressure ranges available upon request. The 12 oz. unit has a supply voltage of 8 to 28 VDC and a current draw of 17 mA. Its small rugged package is comprised of
welded 316 SS construction and a unique cable seal system to prevent accidental cuts to the cable jacket and to eliminate errors due to cable elongation. Part of Pressure Systems' family of smart, networkable transducers that are 100% datalogger compatible, the Series 510 ensures maximum flexibility in the field.

Optional accessories for the Series 510 include both closed- and open-face field installable nose caps and surge/lightning protection with a lifetime over-surge warranty.

Pricing for the submersible smart Series 510 transducer is $695.00 per unit. Delivery is 10 business days ARO.
