MEMS-Based SS Pressure Sensor Ideal for High Purity Applications

AST4900 is ideal for semiconductor applications with demanding price/performance requirements

Mt.Olive, NJ - December 10, 2007. American Sensor Technologies offers the AST4900, a competitively priced, high-quality pressure sensor for use in the measurement of gases and liquids in high purity applications. Utilizing Krystal Bond(TM) Technology, these stainless steel sensors are free of oil-fill, welds and internal O-rings, all of which eliminate the risk of system contamination in extreme conditions. The AST4900 media isolated pressure sensor also holds a CE EN61326 Certification and UL/cUL508 Approval.

The AST4900 is available in two standard fittings: ¼" NPT Male and ¼" VCR Male. Each sensing element is machined from 316L stainless steel and electropolished to remove any contaminates. "This process polishes the metal surface by removing a microscopic amount of material from the work piece. Moreover, electropolishing is a process which uses an acidic viscous medium for the transportation of ions to allow surface undulations to form a more planar surface finish." This one-piece design can also be manufactured with Inconel718, a nickel alloy that holds a wide range of chemical compatibility.

The AST4900 can be scaled with pressure ranges of 0-25 PSI [0-2 BAR] to 0-10,000 [0-700 BAR]. Compound ranges are also available for the AST4900. In addition to high-level voltage, current and frequency output signals, the AST4900 can be packaged with cable, DIN 43650 [Form C] and Bendix [6 pin] electrical connections. Built to operate in temperatures that range from -40° to 85°C, this model's standard performance is rated to 0.25% BFSL. Moreover, the AST4900 carries 2X over range protection, 5X burst pressure and is built to withstand more than 100 million pressure cycles.

The AST4900 has been designed specifically for semiconductor applications that call for demanding price and performance requirements. Those applications include test stands, semiconductor processing equipment, gas pipeline instrumentation, data loggers, panels and manifolds. AST offers Oxygen cleaning service to Prax Air GS-38 standards for customers that may require it.

Competitive pricing for the AST4900 begins at $395 with quantity discounts available starting at 10 pieces. For more information on this product, please visit the AST website at www.astsensors.com or contact the factory directly at info@astsensors.com.

ABOUT AST

AST manufactures state-of-the-art, MEMS-based pressure sensors, transducers and transmitters that offer the best price-performance ratio in the industry. Common applications of AST sensor products are found in industrial OEM, hydraulic systems, fuel cells, medical gases, HVAC/R, refrigeration (ammonia, Freon, CO2), oil & gas exploration and production, and off-road vehicles. By combining exotic metals and AST's exclusive, proprietary Krystal Bond(TM) Technology [an advanced process in which inorganic materials are molecularly diffused onto a metallic surface in the presence of certain gases], AST can produce high-performance strain gauge pressure sensors that support the specialized needs of key niche markets. Many AST products are UL listed as intrinsically safe and certified for explosion-proof required environments. Some of the world's most highly respected industrial Fortune 500 corporations have tested and now use AST products in a wide range of critical and harsh environments.
