Cavity Pressure Sensing Depicts Polyurethane Molding Process

Amherst, NY (March 22, 2006) - Improving and optimizing the molding of polymers with long cycle times is more production friendly with the type 4079A series of pressure sensor measurement systems from Kistler Instrument. The system consists of a piezoresistive pressure sensor and digital charge amplifier designed for easy integration into injection molding machines. A matched system enables highly precise measurement of the pressure curve's different phases where each portion is critical for exact shape reproduction. Cavity pressure measurement can keep process variations within narrow tolerances at each stage. Different molding approaches can be researched for analysis and cycle times can be studied.

For applications to 180 °C, versions are available for 5, 10, 20 and 50 bar pressure ranges. The pressure sensor is free of harmful media and allows acquisition of the reaction temperature. The diaphragm is designed for static long term measurement extending use to a wide variety of reactive polymers.

Used with DataflowTM software, the optimized pre-production parameters may be recorded and witnessed for a certified production run.

Kistler is a worldwide supplier of precision instrumenta¬tion for the measurement of pressure, force and acceleration serving the R&D, Industrial and OEM Communities.
