Pressure Analysis System supports up to 10,240 sensors.

Press Release Summary:

Model T3000 turnkey tactile pressure measurement system enables real-time analysis of objects in direct physical contact. Windows®-compatible software converts raw sensor data into color-coded, 3D representation of pressures on irregularly shaped objects. Scalable system delivers out-of-the-box data collection with parallel-scanning architecture and capacitive sensing technology. It supports sensors, individually or in multiple-sensor arrays, at acquisition rates to 128 kHz.

Original Press Release:

New Scalable Pressure Analysis Solution Is Configurable, Fast and Meets Any Tactile Data Collection Essentials

Los Angeles, CA (July 8, 2004) - Pressure Profile Systems, Inc. (PPS) today introduced its most advanced tactile pressure measurement system, the T3000. The new data acquisition system is a complete turnkey solution designed to support up to 10,240 sensors (individually or in multiple sensor arrays) at acquisition rates of up to 128 kHz, enabling real-time tactile pressure analysis of objects in direct physical contact. In addition to the hardware package, the software converts raw sensor data into a color-coded, highly-realistic, 3D representation of pressures on irregularly shaped objects making the T3000 ideal for use in product design, mechanical assembly evaluation, ergonomic evaluation, impact analysis, and other diverse applications.

The T3000 comes complete with everything needed for fast, out-of-the-box data collection. Its parallel-scanning architecture can accommodate an enormous number of sensor configurations ranging from large arrays covering the floor of a room to high-speed arrays providing tactile feedback on advanced robotics designs. The T3000 is compatible with any of PPS's tactile arrays, including the Conformable Tactile Array that molds to complex curved surfaces, the Industrial Tactile Array capable of measurements up to 500 psi. withstanding temperatures as high as 200°C, and Stretchable Tactile Arrays that can wrap snuggly around limbs or conform to changes in seat cushion surfaces. Furthermore, unlike resistive-based sensor designs, PPS's capacitive sensing technology continuously delivers precise repeatable data.

The T3000 is a powerful, versatile, and scalable solution that goes beyond the capabilities of many pressure mapping systems. PPS engineers can tailor systems for customers need, including custom software display options, tailored sensor designs, and digitizing customer-supplied parts for 3D data display. The user simply installs the included Windows®-compatible software and plugs the system into a USB port on a personal computer. This software allows real-time data display and data capture and recorded data can be exported in ASCII format for easy importing to MATLAB(TM), Microsoft® Excel®, and other analysis applications.

Price and Availability

A truly scalable system, prices for the T3000 start at $26,000 and vary for each customized configuration. The price includes sensors, drive and conditioning electronics with USB interface, data acquisition and visualization software, power supply and cables, and a limited one-year warranty.

Delivery times vary based on system complexity but are generally six - eight weeks ARO.

About Pressure Profile Systems

Pressure Profile Systems, Inc. (PPS) was formed in 1996 to design, develop, and manufacture high performance multi-element pressure and tactile sensing systems. PPS's tactile sensing technology was originally developed at Harvard University and subsequently enhanced into PPS's proprietary TactArray technology through funding from the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency, Army Research Laboratory, and National Institutes of Health.
