BEA Introduces the Iris Presence Detector for Industrial Doors

Pittsburgh, Pa. (November 8, 2004) - B.E.A., Inc. (BEA), a world leader in automatic door sensing technology, has launched the Iris presence detection sensor. With an infinite learn time feature, and the same focused, active infrared technology proven in the company's Wizard sensor, the Iris provides greater safety in industrial environments.

The header-mounted sensor generates two rows of 24 precise beams to detect objects in the door's path throughout the door-opening and door-closing cycles. With a mounting height of up to 13 feet, the Iris is suitable for most small industrial doors. The infinite learn time feature eliminates the need for the sensor to continually re-learn its environment, which may change quickly in busy industrial areas. This feature ensures that common objects abandoned inside the area of detection, such as forklifts or pallets, will not inhibit sensor function.

All features of the Iris are programmable by the BEA universal remote control, eliminating the need for ladders and extra set-up time. The Iris can also be utilized in other applications such as overhead safety in the threshold area for sliding doors, as well as sidelite protection on sliding doors.

BEA, a Halma Group Company, is a global provider of automatic door sensing technology for the activation and safety of pedestrian and industrial doors. The company's North American headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pa., features state-of-the-art engineering, production and training facilities, which serve the United States, Canada, Mexico and South America.
