Precision Voltage References obtain ±0.5mV initial accuracy.

Press Release Summary:

Manufactured using proprietary FGA(TM) technology, X60008CIS8-50 and X60008DIS8-50 store reference voltage as precisely controlled charge on floating gate device. This allows them to deliver straight-line temperature coefficients as tight as 5 ppm/°C and long term stability of 10 ppm/1000 hrs while consuming 500 nA of supply current. Available in 8-lead SOICs, products offer noise voltage rated at 30 µVp-p from 0.1 to 10Hz and 10 mA sink/source current.

Xicor® 5.0V Voltage Reference Sets New Benchmark Standards

X60008-50 Achieves ±0.5mV Initial Accuracy and 5 ppm/°C Temp-Co @ 500nA supply current

MILPITAS, CA - July 22, 2003 - Xicor, Inc. (Nasdaq: XICO), a leading supplier of high performance analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, today announced the X60008CIS8-50 & X60008DIS8-50, the first devices in an extensive family of precision voltage references manufactured using its proprietary FGA(TM) technology. The X60008CIS8-50 & X60008DIS8-50 device performance eclipses many of the most accurate voltage references currently available with guaranteed absolute initial accuracy as low as ±0.5mV, straight-line temperature coefficients as tight as 5 ppm/°C and long term stability of 10 ppm/1000Hrs while consuming a mere 500nA of supply current.

"Current voltage references that achieve initial accuracies tighter than ± 1mV with temperature stability less than 5 ppm/°C are expensive as well as limited in availability due to the limitations of current technologies", commented Davin Lee, vice president of marketing. "Xicor's FGA(TM) technology easily achieves performance levels that exceed the best of conventional buried-zener and band-gap technologies by storing the reference voltage as a precisely controlled charge on a floating gate device."

The X60008 family provides the system designer with next generation precision voltage references that push current performance boundaries and set new benchmark standards for initial accuracy, temperature stability and long-term drift, all at extremely low supply current. This impressive array of exceptional performance specifications will enable the design of extremely stable and highly accurate industrial and portable systems.

The X60008CIS8-50 & X60008DIS8-50 in 8-lead SOIC are available now, with 1k unit prices starting at $4.55 USD and $3.15 USD respectively.

Xicor plans to expand the X60008 family throughout the year with options that feature reference voltages down to 0.9000V, ± 0.25mV initial accuracy and temperature coefficients of 1ppm/°C. The company also plans additional product family introductions including smaller packages and products designed for applications requiring fast transient response performance.
